St. Mark Lutheran Church of Tallmadge launches an Internet ministry

St. Mark Lutheran Church evangelizes to a new cyber-Christian community via its congregational web site on the World Wide Web.

Tallmadge, November 1, 1999: St. Mark Lutheran Church enters the world of electronic Internet ministries today with the creation of its World Wide Web (WWW) web site. People worldwide can access information about the North Avenue congregation using their personal computer and Internet browser software such as Microsoft's Internet Explorer or Netscape's Communicator. The Internet address of this web site, known as a Uniform Resource Locator (URL), is http://www.stmark-lutheran.org.

The Internet has defined a new standard for electronic evangelism. St. Mark Lutheran Church seeks to use this tool to tell the good news of Jesus Christ to a new "virtual" congregation. This cyber-community extends from our church members to residents of the greater Akron area, members of Lutheran churches, and an assortment of Christians worldwide.

Visitors to this web site can obtain a vast assortment of information about the congregation. A colorful home page greets visitors with the church's autumn schedule and calendar of events. Surfing through the site, visitors can view the congregation's beliefs and mission. Other pages highlight the church's social, outreach, and educational ministries. All visitors are invited to sign an Internet guest book. They can subscribe to the congregation's monthly newsletter and be notified via e-mail when it is published. The resources in this site are too numerous to list. You are invited to surf on over today and see for yourself!

Tom Bilcze, a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church, maintains this web site. He is a member of the Association of Christian Web Authors, The Christian Webmasters Association, and The HTML Writer’s Guild.
